Stone landmark structure at the centre of Moka Square

Moka, Mauritius · 2016

Moka City — Square

Project

A landmark at the centre of the square that relates to the history of the place — the chimney feature designed in 2015, implemented in 2016.

Phase 1 of Moka City: infrastructure, main axes for vehicular and pedestrian movement, a square, a park. The intent of Mooneeram Landscape Architects was to create a landmark in the centre of the square that will relate to the history of the place while acting as a major focal point. The chimney feature is accessible on side through steps so that people can actually walk around it, and the top is accessible through cat ladders fixed within the chimney.
